Sangiovese is what we call the California Chianti. Although this grape has Italian roots, it has been cultivated in Paso Robles since the 1980s. This varietal likes a warm climate, south facing slopes, and limestone-rich soil; all which Paso Robles’ unique terroir has to offer.
Our Sangiovese is lighter medium-bodied packed with balanced acidity and fruit. It's one of the most food-friendly wines in the world.
Flavors of bright cherry tomato, roasted red peppers, tobacco spice, slight smoke, and oregano. Our Sangiovese is delicate, light, and gentle on the palate. Prominent acidity is balanced out by the multitude of flavors the grape has to offer as well as the slight oak flavor from barrel aging.
Food Pairings: Sangiovese is a chameleon when it comes to pairing with food. It is so accommodating that if you are a guest at a dinner and do not know what your host is serving this is a safe wine to pair with a multitude of dishes. Great with tomato-based dishes including cioppino, garlic basil chicken, grilled cheese with a side of gazpacho. Pair with tomato basil flavored goat’s milk cheese, Parmigiano-Reggiano, and Gorgonzola.
