Malbec originates in the Bordeaux region of France. It is commonly used there in blends. In the Mendoza region of Argentina, Malbec is made as a stand-alone single varietal. At Tobin James we make a stand-alone single varietal Malbec as well as our FIVE Bordeaux blend that has Malbec included.
Our Malbec is light medium-bodied, bright with fruit, yet balanced by the acidity. Herbaceous and earthy aromas join bright berry packed razzmatazz flavors. Secondary flavors include a hint of spicy white pepper and dark chocolate.
Food Pairings: Try with herb encrusted rack of lamb with rosemary potatoes. Make a charcuterie board of soppressata, prosciutto, salami, aged Gouda, melted Brie, apricot cheese, olives, pickles, pate, strawberry and fig jam, a baguette and plenty of grass-fed butter. Pair with Blue cheese, Gorgonzola, Monterey Jack, Provolone and melted Swiss.
